Abstract:
Starting from the late 1980s, Mittal Steel has acquired and turned many steel plants around, across the globe. Through its knowledge management program, which was established in the mid-1990s, the best practices across the group are shared among its various plants for improvisation of manufacturing processes for cost reduction. Mittal Steel, whose turnover was $22 billion in 2004, increased its production capacity from 20 million tons to 70 million tons between 2002 and 2005 and became the biggest steel company in the world.
